- Carl Yastrzemski had
- some big shoes to fill
- when he started playing
- for the Boston Red Sox in
- 1961. The great Ted
- Williams had just retired, after playing left
- field for the Red Sox for nearly 20 years. But
- Yaz filled TedΓÇÖs shoes most comfortably over
- the next 22 years.
-
- In 1967, Carl had a dream season. He
- became one of only 14 major leaguers ever
- to win the Triple Crown. That year, he led the
- majors in home runs (44), batting average
- (.326), and RBIs (121). He also led the Red
- Sox to the American League Championship!
- Carl hit .400 during the World Series, but
- the Sox lost to the St. Louis Cardinals
- in seven games.
